In what can only be described as a classic, the Dallas Cowboys and the Green Bay Packers put on a spectacular scoring exhibition that ended in a dramatic 40-40 tie at AT&T Stadium.
This Week 4 matchup will be etched in the history books, marking the Cowboys’ first tie since the 1969 season and going down as the second-highest scoring tie in NFL history. It was a true Wild West shootout where neither team could land the knockout blow.
The game was a relentless seesaw battle, particularly in the fourth quarter and overtime. Quarterback Dak Prescott and the Cowboys’ offense showed grit, with a late go-ahead touchdown pass to Jalen Pickens giving Dallas a brief lead. Rookie kicker Brandon Aubrey then provided the temporary advantage in overtime with a 22-yard field goal.

However, the Packers’ offense, led by Jordan Love (337 yards, 3 TDs) and wide receiver Romeo Doubs (3 TDs), answered every challenge. After the Cowboys took the lead in OT, Packers kicker Brandon McManus booted a 34-yard field goal as time expired in the extra period to finalize the 40-40 score.
A special moment for Dallas came early on when the defense made history: Juanyeh Thomas blocked a Packers extra point attempt, which Markquese Bell scooped up and returned for a defensive two-point conversion—the first in franchise history!
While the result isn’t a win, the 40-40 thriller proved that the Cowboys can go toe-to-toe with anyone in a high-stakes, high-scoring affair.
